And now it's time to meet another great neighbor, beekeeper Samantha of Mothers Finest Family Farms in Winston-Salem North Carolina.
[light acoustic music] - My name is Samantha and I'm a farmer, beekeeper, and owner of Mother's Finest Family Farm in Winston Salem North Carolina.
I really enjoy inviting kids to the farm to teach them about beekeeping, harvesting, and giving them a fun hands-on experience.
Together with my sons we raise chickens, ducks, and honey bees.
We try to be good neighbors by educating people about bees and producing food for our community.
The bees do so many amazing things on our farm like pollinate our plants in our greenhouse.
We're able to harvest tomatoes, beets, and carrots, and flowers, to help feed the bees as well, and we take that stuff outside of the community and we help feed other families.
All week long we work on a farm harvesting food, packing it, and getting it ready for the farmers market on Saturday's.
We're gonna go on a scavenger hunt and show you some of the plants that the bees pollinate to help us to be good neighbors and take it to market.
Let's go.
The bees are able to pollinate these elderberries and then we take them from our farm and we make syrups with them.
We also put honey inside of that syrup and people in our community take it to stay healthy.
[birds chirping] The more produce we have the more we could share with other people.
- We're being good neighbors by helping the bees pollinate by planting these flowers.
We plant these flowers so bees can be good pollinators and good neighbors.
- These are some of the local crops that the bees help us with when they pollinate.
They also help us with when we are going to the farmers market and we are selling our produce to the community.
[rocks clinking] - We're making a bee feeder for the bees.
The bees are able to use the rocks to stand on and that way they don't drown when they're drinking the water.
We can be a good neighbor by doing these type of small things to help feed the bees sugar and water.
[machine clinking] This is our honey extractor that we use to extract honey from our bee frames on our farm.
It spins around really fast and all the honey is collected and it comes out.
We jar it and we sell it at the farmers market.
Thank you bees for your pollinating our food.
Without bees there would be no food.
So remember to be a good neighbor and good family member and share as much as you can about bees with your friends and family.
Stay bee-autiful.

Here's my lovely vase I've made.
Today we're gonna be teaching you how to make a popcorn craft.
All right I'm gonna be teaching you how to make a background.
All you need is some water, some paint, paper.
- [Keran] Course paint brush.
And whatever you want, just remember doing something really really pretty.
Remember it's gonna get covered by popcorn.
So you're gonna grab glue.
You can either dot the piece of paper with glue first, then put the popcorn on that, or you can put the dot of glue on the popcorn.
You can even paint on the popcorn if you really want.
I have this awesome idea.
Paint the popcorn blue!
So then it'll look like water swishing around in the vase.
- Hello my name is Drake Campbell Horton.
Today I'll be teaching you how to do the extras.
I'm making a popcorn box.
I went ahead and cut a piece of card stock and folded it up into a box.
I cut a circle I then drew the words pop corn on it and cut strips of red paper on it, I'm gonna glue this to the paper and glue some popcorn on it to make it look like it's pouring out.
- And that is how you make a popcorn craft.
- I hope you have good luck in making your popcorn craft and have fun.
Bye.
- Bye!
- Bye.
- Hi I'm Sterling.
- And I'm Langston.
And together we are.
- Ling and lang.
- Ling and lang.
And today we're going to be making.
- A rain stick.
Better get an umbrella.
- For this rain stick we are going to need.
- A paper towel roll.
Some scissors.
Some duct tape.
Some aluminum foil.
Some yarn or whatever you'd like if you want to decorate it.
A funnel.
Oh reminds me of the funnel cake at the fair.
- Now the first thing you want to do is cut some duct tape off of the roll and cover one side of the paper towel roll with duct tape.
The second thing we want to do is roll up your aluminum foil loosely.
After you've done this you're gonna wanna place your aluminum foil inside of the paper towel.
And you're going to put two big handfuls of corn inside of the paper towel.
This will-- - Make sure you use a funnel when you do this.
- Yes this is where the funnel comes in.
[corn clinking] After this step you're almost done.
All you need is to cover up the other side with duct tape.
After you're done that you're basically done.
[rain stick rustling] And you have a nice rain stick that works pretty well.
- And if you wanna use some yarn or paint, whatever you like to decorate it you can do stuff.
And that's how-- - And that's how you make a rain stick.
- You make a rain stick.
Ling and Lang out.
- Ling and Lang out.
- That's so cute.
Our little neighborly farmers.
Hey everybody guess what we're doing?
We're making popcorn necklaces.
- That's right, we're stringing kernels of popcorn together so we can make necklaces to give to our neighbors.
- It's another way that we can be a caring neighbor.
We have great neighbors.
- That's right Miss Shana we sure do.
Hey!
It looks like I've run out of popcorn.
I guess I can't make any more popcorn necklaces.
- Oh but you can't stop making necklaces!
We have to make sure that we have enough to give all of our neighbors.
Lucky for us I made some extra popcorn in case we had a popcorn shortage.
[popcorn popping] - I don't think I like this.
Oh my!
What are we gonna do now?
- What are we gonna do now?
Hmm.
That's a great question, I don't know!
Maybe we'll have to make some really really big popcorn necklaces.
- Okay, well while we figure out what to do with all this popcorn let's check back in with "Daniel Tigers Neighborhood" the PBS Kids series.
- [Children] Now let's watch!
[light music] - Hi teacher Harriet!
[mumbles] Here's a sunflower for you.
- Oh my goodness.
- Meow meow.
Thanks for teaching us so much.
- Will you hold these for me please?
- Sure.
- And for always being so fun!
[light music] Boopsie boopsie boop fun.
[teacher Harriet laughs] - You are welcome.
[white cat laughs] This sunflower's going to brighten up my whole day.

- You're welcome.
- Okay everyone let's go.
- Making teacher Harriet happy makes me feel happy.
[children laughing and singing] [trolley dings] - Why hello king Friday, perfect timing, we have your cupcakes.
- Well thank you misses Tiger but I didn't come here for cupcakes, I came here to make an announcement!
[trumpet music] - Woo hoo!
[King Friday clears throat] _ I'm here to make an announcement!
[trumpet music] - What's going on?
[Daniel gasps] Dad?
Grump hair, grump hair!
Wow it's all of our neighbors.
- I would like to declare that today is neighbor day!
- Neighbor day!
- Neighbor day!
- If you wanna see more of "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" watch Rootle at eight AM and 8:30 AM every weekday.
Now let's explore what we just saw.
King Friday declared that today is neighbor day and that Daniel Tiger started it all.
What did Daniel do to start neighbor day, do you remember?
That's right, Daniel did kind helpful and nice things for his neighbors.
Now let's see how the Jackson family and the Jennings family do kind helpful things for their animals.
[people clapping] - [Children] Now let's play.
- Hi guys!
- Hi guys!
We're the Jackson family-- - We're the Jackson family from Jake Wood-- - From Jake Wood County North Carolina.
- County North Carolina.
- I'm Olivia.
- I'm Sadie.
- I am Justin.
- I'm Keith.
- We are going to tell you about an awesome 4-H project.
- In this project we learn how to care and show lamb in a livestock show.
To complete a show first you need to get a lamb and take care of it each day.
- My name is Zade and I'm 10-years-old and this is my goat named Rider.
- Hey my name is Carter and I'm five-years-old and here's my goat named Megan.
- [Keith] To keep the land healthy they need to be fed grain and hay each day.
- They get fed and watered twice a day, in the morning and in the afternoon like we eat breakfast and dinner.
- The other things you need to get a lamb ready for a show is practice, practice, practice!
[sheep bleating] - When walking them around we teach them to follow the lead and stop and go when we want them to.
We also have to brace the lambs to make his muscles pop because the judge is looking for which animal has the most muscle.
Okay that's good.
The last thing we do to get ready for a show is get the lambs cleaned and groomed.
[lamb bleating] We first wash the lambs wool.
When they are all clean we use a blower to dry their wool.
- [Keith] We give them a haircut by shearing their wool like we shave our heads.
- Being a good neighbor means treating our animals kindly and taking good care of them by giving them proper food and keeping them healthy.
[light music] - Just like the Jackson and Jenning's families took care of their animals I wanted to help Miss Shana take care of Maya [Maya tweets] by giving her something to eat.
[Maya tweeting] [food clinking] - Hi Miss E, thank you for helping me take care of Maya, you're doing a great job!
- Thank you.
- Seeing how everyone takes care of their pets made me think that I should get a pet to take care of too.
- That's a great idea Miss Shana, what kind of pet are you thinking about?
A dog?
Or a cat perhaps?
- No, I was thinking of a pet rock.
- A pet rock?
[Maya tweeting] [rock clinking] - Sure, why not?
- Well a rock doesn't eat, or drink.
What exactly does a pet rock do?
- What can a rock do?
A rock can roll!
[rock music] [rock clinking] [rock bangs] - I don't think I like this.
[rock clinking] - Uh oh I guess I have to teach my rock how to stop.
- Oh goodness.
Well while I help Miss Shana clean up another mess let's rock out to a fun song performed by some of our special friends, it's Read-a-roo's block party jam.
